Fermoy Camera Club Photo-Fest

On the 10th Of October Fermoy Camera Club celebrates five Years of “Fun with Photography”. Little did Jim Bartley realise when he called the inaugural meeting in 2010 that five years later the club would have developed into the phenomenon it has become. The club’s reputation has grown each year in stature within the community nationally as well as internationally while never once losing the core values of being friendly, open and respectful of every member’s talent while always emphasising the Fun side of things.

To celebrate these first five years the club are organising a spectacular Photo-Fest in Fermoy Community Youth Centre over the weekend of 17th and 18th of October. The Photo-Fest which will have free admission for all is a way for the club to say thanks to the community who have been so supportive of the club throughout the years.

During the Photo -Fest the club members will be displaying some of their works. This will result in a minimum of 300 high quality photographs being displayed in a well-lit hall. Other attractions during the event will include a Fun Photo Booth, Documentaries in the theatre as well as photographic trade stands.

The Fun Photo Booth will offer people the opportunity to get unique photos of themselves taken which will then be immediately uploaded to the social media page of their choosing. This service will also be free and should prove very popular with children as well as for those who refuse to grow up! This service will be provided by David McCarthy Photography, Fermoy.

There will be a trade stand there from Frank Morgan Photographic Studios, Fermoy. Frank is a founder member of FCC and offers a full range of photographic services from printing to camera sales and everything in between. Frank and his team will be available throughout the weekend to advise on all your photographic requirements.

Barkers of Cork will also be displaying their photographic goods over the weekend. So between the two stands everything you need to know or would like to buy in photography will be available with expert help.

Over the two days there will be various photography documentaries being screened in the cinema where you can sit and relax while being entertained.

The exhibition will be open to the public from 2pm until 10pm on Saturday the 17th and from 12pm until 5pm on the Sunday.

The official opening ceremony will be at 6pm on Saturday the17th. Opening the Event will be Michael O’Sullivan. Michael is the president of the Irish Photographic Federation, The governing body of Irish Camera Clubs. It is a sign of the esteem in which Fermoy Camera Club is held nationally that Michael is taking time out of his busy schedule to be a part of FCC’s Photo-Fest.

So make sure you take time out of your busy Schedule to visit this free extravaganza which is guaranteed to stimulate your visual senses as well as offering for two days the opportunity to be part of the madness which is Fermoy Camera Club as it celebrates in style its first five years of “Fun with Photography!”

For a flavour of some of the talents that will be displayed at the Photo-Feat why not visit the club website on www.fermoy cameraclub.net or catch up with us on Facebook at Fcc Fermoy. While these platforms offer a great place to view photos nothing compares to viewing printed and mounted photos, where you can view at leisure the images as the Photographer wishes it to be seen. So be sure and tell all your friends and relatives about this event as the only people who will be disappointed afterwards are the people who do not attend the event.
