Close Encounters of the FCC kind

                                                                                         (Basil O'Sullivan)

Fermoy Camera /Club returned to action last week with a very busy meeting to start the year. Firstly there was a slideshow which covered the various Outings the club had undertook during the year. Looking back at the slideshow reminded members how much we had done in the previous year. Following on from the slideshow we were treated to a display of photographs by our current photographer of the year ,Finbarr O’hanlon. It was then time for tea and bikkies and a chance for everyone to have a chat as well as an opportunity for members to get acquainted with all the new members who have joined the club.

Suitably refreshed Eimear Quigley, our Competition /Secretary, laid out the various competition themes for the coming year, which will certainly see the production of some very creative imagery. The evening concluded with a wonderful slideshow by Batt Arnold of the club’s trip to Malaga. This was lovely to see as it brought some sunshine to a dreary January night

The club’s first workshop of 2016 was held last Saturday. This workshop was a Close Up/Macro workshop which was held in the premises of TVM in Bartlemy. This was a very enjoyable day which saw saw club members photographing everything from Strawberries to flowers as well as Lego men and various other toys and foods. There were various different tables set up with great help being given by members to each other in teaching different techniques. Overall it was another great day of “Fun with Photography”

In other news the club’s beginners course, which is being run for the club by Dave Edmunds of Platform 3 Studios in Cork, is nearing it’s completion. As part of this course the class went out to Mucollop for some practical photography. Despite the fact that the weather was not the best everybody thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon.

The club’s next meeting is on Tuesday the 26th and will see the conclusion of the January Challenge, the theme of which is “After Dark”. This may go some way to explaining the number of photographers may have seen of late out and about with tripods
