The Saturday Club Cheque Presentation

Earlier in the year the club held a table quiz which was a very enjoyable evening for all those involved. It was decided by the club that the funds raised should be donated to charity. While there is a multitude of worthy causes, some of which the club has supported in the past, it was agreed that the funds should go to the Saturday Club. The Saturday Club do tremendous work with their team of volunteers in offering a club for children with special needs.

While reports from Fermoy Camera Club may have been scarce in the past number of weeks the club’s activities have been anything but scarce! The club has now entered its summer period where there will only be one meeting per month until September. The opportunities for taking photographs with the club has been increased for the summer with the introduction of the “FCC Weekend Wanders”. These mini Outings are a replacement for what was known as “Fun Fridays” in previous years. So far this summer the club has been to Mallow Castle, the reservoir and the Vee to name but a few of these wanders. These mini-outings are once again proving to be a great place for members to share knowledge and experiences in a relaxed and sociable environment.

At the club’s last meeting members were treated to a wonderful talk and presentation by Clare based photographer Martin Kiely. Martin is no stranger to Fermoy having previously shown his work at Fermoy Sub Aqua Club and Fermoy Camera Club. As well as being a very talented photographer, Martin is also a very experienced diver. His talk to Fcc this year was titled “Ecuador and Peru”. The photographs he showed were from a dive trip he had taken recently to the Galapagos Islands. The evening was a kaleidoscope of colours and stories which had his audience spellbound.  While we could have listened to him all night time constraints meant that we never got to see his underwater images from that trip. The good thing is we can get him back another night sure in the knowledge he will not be out of his depth!

The next camera club meeting will be on June 28th in the Fermoy Community Youth Centre. The meeting will see the conclusion of this month’s competition which is titled “Portraiture” where we expect to see photos that are head and shoulders above anything that has been seen so far this year. At the end of the day the club is all about having “Fun with Photography!”
