FCC Visit Spike Island

The Club recently went on a Trip to Spike Island in Cork Harbour. This island prison was known as Ireland's "Alcatraz" and was at one time Europe's largest prison housing 2300 souls.

The island has a very long history having been a monastic settlement, military fortress, prison and now Dark Tourism Site.

In total there was nineteen members aboard the ferry to travel over to the island. The weather was scorching as the group was expertly guided around the site by the friendly staff.

There was rhen time to explore and photograph the site before returning to Cobh.

After refreshments the group wandered through the town before returning home after another great day of Fun with Photography
