Batt Gets an A for Effort

Fermoy Camera Club’s latest monthly Challenge was “Silhouette” in Monochrome. This competition saw a very large entry with some stunning images on display. To make life easier for FCC members some of our good friends from Mallow Camera Club came over to do the judging on the night. After much deliberation Batt Arnold’s brilliant shot of a steeplechase was deemed to be the winner. Michael Walsh took second, Graham Daly was third with Eileen Sykes in fourth. Noel O’Keeffe won the Grade three award.

FCC’s most recent outing was to Ballymaloe Antique & Vintage Fair. Ten members attended on the day with a wide and varied collection of styles of photographs being brought back. One photographer was overheard commenting “Wow this is the best ever! Not a single landscape or seascape in sight! Brilliant” which just goes to show, that every member’s genre of photography is catered for by the club.

With the start of the long evenings upon us Fermoy Camera Club’s “Fun Friday’s” are making a welcome return. These are mini outings where members meet up for car-pooling before heading out for a few hours photography. Over the past few years these Friday’s have proved a great opportunity to kick start the weekend as well as having “Fun with Photography” which is the club motto!

At our latest meeting members of Mallow CC showed us some of their work. A previous meeting saw our very own Lenka Svorcova give the club a talk and presentation of her work. Lenka specialises in Street Photography, which involves photographing street scenes giving a unique insight to an everyday slice of history as seen by the photographer. Lenka’s work included photos from her native Czech Republic, Hungary, Spain and her adopted homeland Ireland. This proved a very popular evening. At our next meeting on Tuesday the 10th of April, Martin Kiely of Limerick Camera Club is giving us a talk. Martin who is a keen diver as well as photographer will be showing us images from deep in the sea as well as on terra firma. This should be a very entertaining talk and as always new members are welcome.

In other news Fcc's Photographic Exhibition has been extended to the end of April due to public demand. This exhibition showcases all members work and is regularly updated.
