The finals of the Irish Photographic Federation Print & Projected and Nature Photographer of the Year Competitions were held recently. The IPF is the national governing body of all camera clubs. To get to the finals there are various regional qualifying rounds.  The competitions are open to all camera club members in the country whose club is affiliated to the IPF.

Fermoy Camera Club was represented in both finals which were held in Kilkenny at the weekend. Most of the members who had images qualify travelled to Kilkenny. Saturday saw the final of the Photographer of the Year Competition. This is an Open Competition where images of any subject are eligible. Sunday was the Nature Final which saw the club members who qualified scoring highly.

Fermoy Camera Club are very proud to announce that club member, Bill Power, was crowned IPF Photographer of the Year in Saturday’s competition. This is the highest accolade achievable within the IPF and is a great testament to the photographic prowess that Bill possesses. There was a large contingent of supporters travelled to lend their support over the weekend, as well as have a look at the standard of photography that is currently out there on the national stage.

Not only was it a great day out, it was a great opportunity for FCC members to meet other friends from around the country as well as a chance to make new friends. The standard of photographs on display at the weekend was very high and it was terrific to see the FCC members do so well there. As usual all those who travelled had a terrific time, not only at the event but also on the journey to and from Kilkenny. Overall it was another very enjoyable weekend full of “Fun with Photography”.
