How(ard) did they do it?

Fermoy Camera Club’s February Challenge concluded recently with the “Lines” Challenge. This competition was a monochrome challenge which saw another record breaking entry of forty six photographs on the night. Once again the creativity and imagination used by the members in their photographs was a joy to behold.

While there certainly were no losers on the night, camera clubs members had the unenviable task of choosing their winners. After much deliberation and the calculating and tallying of all votes, without any recourse to recounts, Michael Howard jnr. Was deemed the Overall Award winner as well as taking victory in the Grade 1 category. Keeping the prizes in Rathcormac Michael Forward took second place. Bill Chambers was third and also claimed the Grade 2 Honours. In fourth place was Ruth Howard, a new member from Knockanore. Another new member, Mary Thornhill took the Grade 3 honours.

Next month’s Challenge is titled “Religious” which is an Open Projected Challenge. This means that club members can enter either a Monochrome or Colour image. Also the club will be using our third version of voting, this will involve members from another club coming to Fermoy to pick their winners on the night. This gives a different perspective to the voting as well as giving FCC members a chance to meet up with our friends from a neighbouring club.

The FCC members were also busy during the week when they travelled to Blarney Photography Club to show some of their work, as well as give a talk about the exploits of Fermoy Camera Club. This was a great evening out with lots of “Fun with Photography”. The Blarney Club were most encouraging with their response to our Photographs as well as giving us a fabulous feed of sandwiches and homemade cakes, demonstrating that their talents are not limited to great photography!
