Medals galore for Fermoy Camera Club

It’s been a very busy week for members of Fermoy Camera Club (FCC).  At Tuesday night’s meeting we were treated to a viewing of her excellent and successful ‘L’ Panel from Máire Corbett who recently attained LIPF accreditation. She outlined the week she put into it and shared tips and hints for anyone of us in the process of putting together our ‘L’ panel. Máire also treated us to an amazing collection of photos taken on her recent travels around the world from Singapore to Australia and several stops in between. We were left a little jealous but very impressed.

Donagh Cronin very generously shared his Blackwater Fishing Huts project with us – took us on a wonderful journey along the beautiful Blackwater river and gave us a rare glimpse into the lives and activities of the Blackwater fishermen. Many of us were amazed that such hidden gems are on our door step !

Ten FCC members travelled to The Southern Association of Camera Clubs (SACC) regional rounds of The Nature POTY competitions held in the Cabragh Wetlands Centre, Thurles, on Saturday.  The standard was very high and FCC was very proud to come away with a number of medals.  Sinéad Hickey won a Gold and Silver Medal in the SACC NPOTY 2017/2018 Natural World category, and a Gold medal for Projected Themed and another Gold for Projected Open. Well done Sineád ! Well done also to Basil O’Sullivan took a Bronze for the Projected Open and to Mark Heffernan took Silver for the Projected Themed.  So a huge Congratulations to Sinéad, Basil and Mark who received medals, and to the rest of the members that have qualified to go onto the Nationals which will be held in Carlow on the 17th of February.

Our next club meeting is competition night on Tuesday 23rd January @ 8pm in Fermoy Youth Centre. The theme is ‘Winter on The Street’ This is a printed competition. Entries must also be emailed to FCC Competitions by Friday night 19th.  Sure to be another night of fun with photography.
